FSC paper refers to paper produced from raw materials certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
FSC is an independent, non-governmental, non-profit organization whose mission is to promote environmentally responsible, socially beneficial, and economically viable forest management. FSC certification ensures the following:
1、 Sustainable Forest Management
1. Ecological protection:
FSC certification requires forest management activities to protect biodiversity, maintain the stability and health of ecosystems. This includes protecting rare and endangered species and their habitats, ensuring that the flora and fauna in the forest can survive and reproduce in the natural environment.
For example, in the process of forest logging, it is necessary to preserve a certain number of habitats for key species and avoid damaging ecologically sensitive areas.
2. Soil and Water Conservation:
Reasonable forest management helps prevent soil erosion. FSC certified forests will take measures such as building terraced fields, maintaining vegetation cover, etc. to reduce the erosion of soil by rainwater and protect water sources and river ecosystems.
For areas with steep slopes, specific logging methods will be used to avoid geological disasters such as landslides.
3. Sustainable logging:
The intensity and frequency of logging have been specified to ensure that forests can naturally recover and regenerate after logging. For example, limiting annual logging to no more than forest growth to ensure sustainable forest supply.
Adopting selective logging methods, only mature trees are harvested, while young trees and other vegetation are preserved to provide seeds and growth space for forest renewal.
